NO GROOMERS THIS WEEKEND!!

Made it up to Jay at about 3am on Saturday morning after leaving Dan and Jess's Holiday party at Sullivan's Tavern in Charlestown around 10:30pm with Randy. The roads up to the Notch were pretty manageable. They were entirely clear, maybe a little wet but nothing that slowed us down too much. But the situation changed entirely once we hit the Notch. Almost immediately the roads became snowpacked and it started squalling. I figured that after the pass the roads would improve, but I was mistaken. For the rest of the trip we had snowpacked roads. This slowed us down quite a bit. The squalls became heavy at times and I really needed to take it easy. We finally made it without any events though. Randy whined about my loud music all the way up. He's totally annoying. I'm never giving him a ride again. Then, when we got there, the driveway hadn't been plowed. WTF?!! It was pretty deep, too. Probably 10 to 12 inches. Luckily it was powdery. Saturday, Dec 4 - First Day of the Season

So I went snowboarding, too. I guess I should mention that. I got to the mountain around 10:30. Dropped off the Custom X at the repair shop, picked up my pass and I was on the mountain. Temps were great, just about 25 degrees, a balmy day at Jay. A light snow spittled all day. Unfortunately, I had forgotten my snowboard jacket in Cambridge (I knew I would forget something when I left!). But I had my Windblocker fleece so it wasn't too bad. Actually it the first time I had ridden with a fleece. At least I know that I can get away with it if I have to. I'm also going to mention here that this was my first day on my new snowboard bindings. A set of Burton P1 Carbons. This is my first new pair of bindings since 1998, so i was interested to find out what a difference they would make. Also, I was on my old Custom 160. I initially set up my stance centered as opposed to my usual 1 inch back stance, only because I was riding alone and I wanted to test some new things out. This ultimate...

Dec 3 Weekend - First Weekend!

So I decided to go up to Jay this past weekend after being tempted by the Jay Snow report and Dr. Roemer's report for Friday. J Roemer does just an amazing job of localized meteorological reports, specifically for Jay Peak. I haven't checked to see if he's done any other resorts, but he probably does. I left Cambridge approximately 2:00pm on Saturday. I was hoping to get most of the driving out of the way before sundown. I did a fairly good job. I basically made it to the Notch before it was dark. This included a quick stop to the NH liquor store to stock the house a little. Pulled into the SSJay at approximately 5:45pm. A perfect 3:45 trip. This doesn't happen very often, so when accomplished it should be noted. The house looked exactly the same as we left it and it almost felt like being home. Some things new things I noticed: 1) New windows(+) - this will help out several of the rooms immensely. 2. Living room curtains (-) - What the? Where'd our curtai...
