Trail Date: 12/2/2016 Headed up Friday afternoon to get more settled in the house. Plus there was snow forecasted for Saturday. Woke up saturday to about a foot or more of a heavy snow on the hill. The mountain looked great! Started with a Derricks run, filming Kathleen. I believe we rode this a couple times. I was noticing several patrollers coming out of the woods as we were going up the lift for the third time. As we approached the top, the patrollers were just about to drop the rope! K and I quickly jumped down kitzbuehl, I then went into the lower cash money woods (jet glade??). We continued to hit the stuff skiers left on the jet...Montrealler and Hell Woods mostly. We also decided to hike to CanAm. It was fantastic. We got barely touched (not untouched...) turns. It was fantastic for the second day of the year. Much better than I could have hoped for. We took several breaks since we aren't in tip top shape. We didn't venture into the thicker woods either. K decided to ...

What a horrible, horrible EPIC week. Wednesday January 28th - Drove up in the morning during a snow storm. It wasn't a bad drive, just took a long time. Unfortunately, it appears that I lost my phone the day before but didn't realize it until this morning. This delayed me about 45 minutes. Never found it. Got to the mountain between 1:00 and 1:30pm. There was a good amount of snow falling and a fair share on the mountain. Probably about 4-6 inches. I was really soar starting out and had problems with my boots. I only rode for about 2 hours. Didn't have great runs, but the snow showed potential. Wanted to save my energy for Thursday. Thursday January 29th - Woke up early but took my time to get to the mountain. Don't know why. It appeared that we only had a couple more inches over night when I looked out the window of the house. I was wrong. When I pulled out of the driveway I got stuck, because there was about 8 inches of light, fluffy snow on the ground. But that...

Friday January 23rd - This was one of the better days of the year so far. So I tried something different this day. Instead of trying to remember the best runs of the day a few days later like I have been for the past few years, I thought I would try to tweet updates wthhile I was on the mountain. I also linked my tweets to my facebook account, so that my status would be updated with my tweets. It worked out pretty well. But I only did it on Friday, because it was the only day warm enough to take my hand out of my pocket to send text messages. So, the day was great. One of the best days of the year. Jay reported that they had gotten several small shots during the week that eventually accumulated to 2'. I don't know about 2 feet, but there was plenty of new snow on the mountain. The snow base was much improved from the previous week. Definitely set up for a good weekend. I started the day by doing a groomer (WGG as usual) then headed to the Tram since there was no line waiting f...

Saturday January 17 It was super cold on Saturday. Randy and I planned ahead by deciding to hike some of the Big Jay trail from Rt. 242. The plan was to mapped out a path on Randy's handheld GPS so that we would have a "target" the next time we started from the top. We hiked about 1.5 miles in. After looking at the GPS map I notice that we traversed pretty far into the bowl, which is good, because we both figured we would not want to drop any further than that traverse. We hiked in via snowshoe but we did not have to break any trail luckily. We just had to follow the ski tracks that had previously come down Big Jay. Sunday January 18th Woke up a bit later than usual due to a great steak dinner festivities from Saturday night. When I woke I looked out the window and it was snowing lightly out. But it was steady and then is good. We had about 2 inches at the house so I suspected that there was probably 4 inches at the mountain, which is about right when we arrived at Jay...
